Song of the Day

Say Anything's latest album Anarchy My Dear was released on March 13th. This is Say Anything's 4th album and it is fantastic. As always, Say Anything is kicking ass when it comes to their music. Evey album is a masterpiece. Go buy their CD/Vinyl @ your local record store, support physical media.

St. Patty's Day!

I am currently reading Tweak By: Nic Sheff. The book is a rolller-coaster ride! It's a riveting, real, heart-breaking and a gutwrenchingly honest life of a drug addict. When I go to a bookstore I browse a variety of books and this one just jumped out at me. Nic is a very talented writer who tells it like it is. He is not afraid to let people into his world and his recovery. Nic like every other human being, is human. We all make mistakes and we all have trials and triumphs, and that is, precisely, why I am reading this book. It's wonderfully-dark, thought-provoking and hard to put down.

Song of the Day

The Boston Globe says, "... melodic, evocative tunes...songs that offer visions of love both giddy and grim, sung in a voice that is by turns whimsical and cutting." I could not have said it any better. The Boston Globe has pinpointed all that is wonderful about this album. Human Again really showcases Michaelson's amazing talent. In my opinion this is by far her best album. It's just lovely.

It's Only Monday.

Do you ever wonder what soundtrack would be playing if your life was a movie? Everyday my Ipod wakes me up with a different song. I love how this totally sets the tone to my day. Since Metric woke me up this morning, I was excited to start my day. Even though its only Monday and I have alot to do this week the music I listen to really helps me get things done. Well music and coffee! My drink of choice from Starbucks is an iced coffee with 6 pumps of vanilla and 6 pumps of carmel. It's perfect for anyone on the go. This is my go to drink when I need a little pick me up.

Indie Films!

The process of filmmaking is very difficult. First an idea has to be concived to make the film then the script has to be written, then it takes a well orchestrated team of people who love film to put in the time and energy it takes to complete a film. Sometimes, these groups of filmakers have the neccessary funds to make the film, while many are in need of funds to persue their creative passion for film. Since I am a Communications-Media major, I am always very interested in art, film, music, and photography. PR is also one of my other main interests, so when I hear about a local filmaker, band, artist or photographer needing funds I want to help. One of the main focal points of PR is raising awareness, and getting people interested through promotional advertising or even just word of mouth (i.e. Street Team). Everyone has engaged in PR at some point in their lives wether its telling people about something cool or trying to raise money, everyone is always sharing ideas and information. So, right now I want to share some info with you via this blog. I am taking a class that deals with Media, and one of my fellow classmates made an announcemet that he is making a film called The Treehouse. The Treehouse Film has limited funds however, and he is trying to raise money to continue filming. If you would like to donate to the project here's the website.

Let's Talk About Mad Men!

Mad Men is an excellent Television Show and I think everyone should own the season DVDs. The cast of Mad Men is amazing, as well as the directing, cinematography, and all of the mise-en-scene techniques of each episode. The 50s/60s style of the show is what sets this show apart from many other TV shows. The witty lines of dialouge and the scandalous lives of the characters make it hard for fans to stop watching the show. I just finished watching the 3rd season, and I am excited to start watching the 4th season. However, I think I'm going to wait a few days to start season 4 because season 5 doesn't start on AMC until March!
Watch It!

Must Reads

Barnes & Noble is one of my favorite places to browse for books. Yesterday I bought a signed copy of The Fault in Our Stars By: John Green & today I went back to the store and bought Every You, Every Me By: David Levithan. I am very excited to read both of these books after I finish Sara Shepard's Pretty Little Secrets.
Everyone should read more with this new year! Reading decreases stress, increases knowledge and fuels the imagination to create something new.

A Delightful Saturday

Today was so nice! I woke up, went to Starbucks, ordered a venti Chai Tea Latte then I went to Target where I bought the movie The Art of Getting By... it's such a great movie! Emma Roberts and Freddie Highmore are excellent. After running errands I got a huge burrito it was so delicious! Here's what makes a great burrito ----> a large flour tortilla with Spanish rice, re fried or black beans, then add chicken, cilantro, queso, and corn salsa. :) Once I finished my huge burrito, I bought the new Elle Magazine, as well as the new In Style Magazine because Drew Barrymore is on the cover of this months issue. Then, I went to dinner where I had a wonderful meal with a large fishbowl of an alcoholic beverage and now I'm watching a re-run of Chelsea Lately. Successful Day Yes? Definitely. Now watch the trailer for this cute little indie film, then go watch the movie, then buy it!
Thanks YouTube!

Sara Shepard has done it again! Everytime I try to stop reading this series Sara Shepard pulls me back in. Ruthless is just as addicting as the other books and the story just keeps getting more twisted with each page. I just started reading this book lastnight and I am determined to finish it today. 1) Because I want to know what happens? 2) To see what is planned for the next book and 3) To start the next book which just came out yesterday.
I ordered Pretty Little Secrets on Amazon though, So it probably will not be at my doorstep for a couple of days. However, I will probably read another book in between because the holidays are almost over and I need to read as many books as I can before school starts. So much to read, yet so little time! I know when school starts again, my reading time will be significantly limited.

Currently Reading

I am currently reading this book and it is a must read! Lauren Barnholdt's writing is hilarious, witty and spot on when it comes to the psychy of Highschool teens and all of their drama. There are also many references to the early 2000's in this book such as Myspace, The O.C. and Laguna Beach. This book is totally a throwback to my own highschool days. The main characters are also very relatable for anyone who is or has gone through highschool. Two Way Street, is a light, fun, flirty read. Great book, Hard to put down. Read It!
